The Gers have had a fairytale run in Europe this season, but they have one last hurdle to cross to put the icing on the cake
Super Eagles star Leon Balogun has affirmed his Rangers fans ahead of their Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday.
It has been a fairytale campaign for the Gers, as despite losing the Premiership title, Rangers are in their first European final in 14 years. The Gers have claimed notable victories in their journey to Seville, convincingly beating German giants RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund in the process.
The Ibrox has been a fortress for Rangers this season, as they have lost just once at home- their opening fixture against Lyon.
The Gers will not have the luxury of home advantage against Eintracht Frankfurt in the final, but they would be counting on their fans to turn up in their numbers.
Defender Balogun is happy with the support from the fans and is confident that they will cheer them on when both teams square off at the Ramon Sanches-Pizjuan.
“Everyone is super euphoric and would like to win the title like us,” Balogun told West German newspaper.
“That would be sensational and a big deal, especially in the year of the club’s 150th anniversary. The home stadium Ibrox is “like a primal force.”
“Basically, they are the best fans I’ve met in my career. At the same time, we are aware that Eintracht also has a huge fan base with a lot of power – for me, one of the strongest in Germany, which raises the alarm,” Balogun added.
