Rangers fans don’t want their Nigerian youngster to ever leave the club as he put in another beautiful performance in the Europa League
Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey has dedicated Rangers’ win to the club’s legendary kitman who died three days ago at the age of 69.
Bassey held his black armband and faced the camera after the win against RB Liepzig at Ibrox. With almost teary eyes and an emotion-laden face, the 22-year old defender said “For you Jimmy.”
Bell is highly respected in Rangers and was a cultural icon for the club.
The player tweeted later and said “For Jimmy… love you”
Rangers overturned a first-leg 1-0 deficit against Leipzig on Thursday as they qualified for their first European final in more than a decade.
The Nigerian who was voted the club’s Young Player of the Season has been a significant presence in their backline operating as a left full-back and centre back.
He also had an impressive display and was hailed by fans of the club for his good performance.
