“We’d have lost six months ago” – Mourinho not gutted by Lookman’s leveller

The Portuguese coach led AS Roma to an important away draw in the Europa Conference League but must now win in Rome to progress to the final

Jose Mourinho praised his players for getting a draw at Leicester in the first leg of their semifinal Europa Conference League clash.

Mourinho has masterminded a gradual growth at the Stadio Olimpico amid some edgy results.

In his reaction after the draw against Leicester, Mourinho said he was impressed with the start they had and they can now play for a final stake.

“I think we would have lost this game five or six months ago. We had the courage to start strongly, pressing hard and leaving them little space. Then our energy levels lowered, we conceded a goal that we could have avoided and now there will be a final at stake in Rome.”

Ademola Lookman helped Leicester restore parity in the game as they travel to the Stadio Olimpico next week for the second leg clash.
