No other striker smashed in three goals in the Belgian top-flight at the weekend apart from Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has been named in the Belgian Pro League’s Team of the Week after his exploits for KRC Genk at the Cegeka Arena on Sunday.
Onuachu bagged a hat-trick for the Smurfs, his 17th, 18th, and 19th league goal of the campaign, to power the home side to a commanding 5-0 triumph over Eupen.
Onuachu scored the game’s first two goals from the penalty spot to hand Bernd Storck’s side a two-goal lead at halftime.
Japan’s Junya Ito and Bree-born midfielder Bryan Heynen added the game’s third and fourth goal, respectively, before Onuachu completed the rout with a poacher’s finish ten minutes from time.
And Onuachu’s excellent performance has seen him included as the central striker in the official team of the week list, flanked by Anderlecht winger Christian Kouame and Club Brugge youngster Andreas Skov Olsen.
Last season, the Super Eagles striker hit 33 goals in 38 league matches for the Belgian side.
There is only one match left this term in the regular season of the First Division A, and Onuachu has expressed his desire to add more goals in that crucial clash at high-flying RFC Seraing on April 10.
