Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze has been ruled out of this weekend’s La Liga clash against Levante after picking up a muscle injury in Kumasi.
Chukwueze is also a doubt for the Yellow Submarine Champions League clash against Bayern Munich after playing a key role in the shocking defeat of Juventus in the round of 16.
Villarreal coach, Unai Emery confirmed Chukwueze’s injury during Friday’s Press conference.
“Chukwueze has some little pains in the back of the muscle,” the former Arsenal manager said.
“He will not be available due to a small muscle injury,”
He was subbed off against Ghana in Kumasi in the 59th minute and played no part in the second leg as Nigeria capitulated at home against their agelong rivals.
Chukwueze has had a sloppy and inconsistent season, having battled injuries and fitness for large parts. He’s scored twice and assisted five times in 29 games this season and is still considered one of the important players in the squad.
