“I wasn’t in support of Gernot Rohr’s dismissal” – Eguavoen

Former Super Eagles coach, Austin Eguavoen has steered clear of involvement in the sacking of his predecessor, Gernot Rohr.

Rohr was sacked a few weeks to the African Cup of Nations with former Nigerian international, Eguavoen drafted in to replace him.

Eguavoen was appointed on an interim basis during at the AFCON and led the team to a Round of 16 finish. His place was held down by the Nigeria Football Federation for the World Cup qualifier against Ghana and he failed to help Nigeria book a ticket to Qatar.

Eguavoen, appearing as a guest on Monday Night Football on Supersport said he wasn’t in support of Rohr’s dismissal as it came too close to a major tournament.

“Yes, I complained about the timing as it was too close to the Africa Cup of Nations.”

Eguavoen further stated that he’s open to being reappointed as he still considers himself one of the good coaches in Nigeria.

“If there is still an opportunity for me, I will want to coach the Eagles again, but not at this moment, maybe later,”

“If I am called upon to lead the team again, I will definitely take up the job. I am still one of the good coaches in the country. I can still prove a point, it is just a matter of time.

“No regrets taking up the job. When you are called to serve the nation, I could not refuse them,” he said.

The former Enyimba coach has been criticised for his failure to eke great results from a talented pool of players. Eguavoen resigned last week while the NFF sacked other members of the technical crew for their failure to help Nigeria qualify for the World Cup.

  • Whether you were in support or not in the sacking of gernot rohr , he was never a good coach most of the matches Nigeria played under him were very problematic he was tactically clueless a coach that doesn't know how to attack when it matters most , please don't remind Nigerians of the awful days of rohr some people in the NFF wanted him not majority of Nigerians, apologize to Nigerians for your inability to qualify the team for Qatar 2022.

  • YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS.
YOU ARE A LIAR AND TOO GREEDY. WHEN YOU KNOW THAT. WHY CAN'T YOU SHOW YOUR GRIEVANCE TOWARDS IT BY NOT ACCEPTING THE OFFER & THEN CONCENTRATE WITH YOUR TECHNICAL DIRECTOR POSITION AND ALLOWED OTHER COACHES (e.g. Amuneke) FOR THE OFFER. BUT DUE TO YOUR GREEDINESS & TO GET GOOD NAME GOD HAVE NOT DESTINED TO YOU, YOU QUICKLY JUMP TO ACCEPT THE OFFERED. YOUR EYES HAS ON EAGLE' JOB, THAT IS WHY YOU LED HOMEBASE EAGLE TO DISASTROUS 4-0 DEFEAT TO MEXICO IN INT. FRIENDLY. NFF FIRSTLY ASKED GERNOT ROHR TO LEAD THE HOMEBASE TO INT. FRIENDLY WITH MEXICO, BUT HE REFUSED & SAID TO NFF THAT HE DIDN'T SIGNED ANY AGREEMENT WITH NFF TO LEAD ANY HOMEBASE TEAM IN HIS CONTRACT. YOU EQUAVOEN, WHY CAN'T YOU DO THE SAME THING BY TELLING NFF THAT YOU ONLY SIGNED AGREEMENT TO BE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR ALONE. BUT INSTEAD, YOU ARE JACK OF ALL TRADES. WHEREVER NFF PUSHES YOU TO GO, THEN YOU GO.
It is not good for a man to be too greedy . This is the consequence.

  • Gernot rhor would not have lost to Ghana and tunisia.football is about results.Rhor knows how to grind results. It is better to play badly and win than play nicely and lose.Go and ask mourinho .Give us our Rhor.It is better to have rhor than this kind of shame and disgrace
