Zaidu Sanusi and the Super Eagles stars facing mixed fates in Europe

Super Eagles left back, Zaidu Sanusi and FC Porto are facing a difficult task to upturn a 1-0 deficit against Lyon when they travel to France on Thursday in the Europa League.

Lyon defeated Porto by a lone goal in the first leg and will look to defend their lead when they host the Portuguese giants.

Sanusi is just one of the four Super Eagles stars remaining in the Europa League this season.

Rangers, having three Super Eagles players will be looking to consolidate on a 3-0 first leg victory over Red Star Belgrade when they travel to Serbia. Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun scored a third in Glasgow to give the Gers a comfortable lead going into the second leg.

Giovanni Van Bronckhorst is expected to name Balogun, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey when Rangers visit Belgrade.

In the Europa Conference League, Akinkunmi Amoo is expected to be involved when Copenhagen host PSV in Denmark. The Danish champions played out a 4-4 draw in the first leg with Amoo’s compatriot, Paul Mukairu in action, and hope to turn the scoreline around in the second leg.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s late goal gave Leicester a 2-0 advantage as they travel to Brittany in a game that promises to be difficult. The Foxes have their Nigerian trio of Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman all on board for the trip to Rennes with the Europa Conference League now their target.

Slavia Praha will be looking to put their big advantage in the first leg to use when they travel to LASK. Nigerian attackers, Yira Sor and Peter Olayinka were both on target as the Czech champions hammered the Austrians 4-1 in the first leg.

Feyenoord will also look to have their Nigerian marksman, Cyriel Dessers at his best as they  hope to consolidate on their big advantage against Partizan Belgrade. The Dutch club came from behind to defeat the Serbians 5-2 in the first leg.
