“I need somebody to hate me” – ex-Manchester United star announces proposed visit to Nigeria with Wizkid’s ‘Essence’

Former Manchester United star, Patrice Evra is coming to Nigeria. The former Les Bleus full-back made the announcement via his Twitter handle on Friday.

In a very goofy video, Evra was seen dancing to Wizkid and Tems’ “Essence” on a bathrobe and an old-school wig.

The former Monaco defender said he’s been shown so much love and laughed as he jokingly called for somebody to hate him.

As Tems sang “you don’t need no other body,”, Evra chanted “I need somebody to hate me, ” in a video that has since gone viral with 180,000 views.

Evra won the UEFA Champions League title with Manchester United in 2008 and lost finals twice, first as a Monaco player in 2004 and with Manchester United in 2011. He also won the Premier League title multiple times and played at the World Cup for France.

The reason for his visit to Nigeria is yet to be ascertained but he’s currently in his native, Senegal where he’s been touring schools and academies to encourage children.

He’s however revered in the country by Manchester United fans who watched him play in the 2010s for the Red Devils.

“Breaking news ! Evra bus stop will stop to #Nigeria first time ever ( @wizkidayo sorry for the remix ) 🎶 ohh I need somebody to hate me  #ilovethisgame #positive4evra” he tweeted.
