Bright Osayi-Samuel was given the dreaded duty of marking Anthony Nwakaeme in Fenerbache Sunday’s clash against league leaders Trabzonspor.
The Nigerian defender said despite watching videos of his countryman before the game, he still scored and that explained his quality.
Nwakaeme is considered one of the Turkish Super Lig’s most complete forwards with a total of 10 goals this season, and 19 contributions in total.
The Nigerian raised the curtains in the game scoring in the 22nd minute. The Black Sea Storm however lost their lead in the 71st minute when Fenerbache’s Zayc drew level.
Osayi-Samuel who is yet to be invited to the Super Eagles said;
“We started the match well. Our coach said that the first 20 minutes of the attack was very important. I don’t want to talk about the red card. We wanted to stay on the field and not concede a goal. We scored the goal, but we showed character. We could have definitely won. I am satisfied with my position. More pleasure in offense. I get it. But it’s good to play.
“I knew how good Anthony Nwakaeme was. I watched his videos before the match. He passed me a few times and scored. I tried to do my best,” he said.
