Super Eagles star Dennis sees red as Watford drops into the relegation zone

The Nigerian striker pulled out of AFCON to play for his club, but so far, things have not gone well

Super Eagles star Emmanuel Dennis received a red card after two bookable offences, as Watford lost 3-0 at home to Norwich.

The Hornets had lost eight of their last nine games prior to the Premier League fixture at Vicarage Road, and the tie against Norwich seemed one that they could get something from.

Dennis started the game, leading the line up front. The 24-year old was supposed to give the Hornets a significant boost in attack going into the tie.

However, it did not turn out that way. His poor tackle in the 36th minute, which earned him a yellow card, was the highlight of his first half as both teams went into the break with a barren scoreline.

In the second half, the Canaries came out baring fangs, and within just six minutes after the break, Joshua Sargent opened the scoring from a Teemu Pukki assist.

Unfortunately, there was an issue with the floodlights in the 60th minute, so the game was halted. Nevertheless, the game was restarted about twelve minutes later. And on the 74th minute of the match, Sargent increased the Canaries lead, making it 2-0.

It got worse for the Hornets in the 78th minute, as in an attempt to win the ball, Dennis caught Norwich fullback Max Aarons on the ankle.

Referee Mike Dean wasted no time giving the former Club Brugge man his second yellow card, which automatically earned him his first red card in almost three years.

Watford thought they had charted a way back into the fixture, but Sissoko’s goal at the stroke of 90 minutes was ruled out for offside.

The Hornets put the final nail on their own coffin in stoppage time when Juraj Kucka put the ball in his own net to make it 3-0.

The loss ensured that Watford dropped to 18th on the Premier League table. Two points away from safety.

While for Norwich, the win means they will end a day above the Premier League’s bottom three (excluding the very first day of this season) for the first time since 4th October 2019.

  • For denying Nigeria afcon forward it will never be well with the club championship is their destination no matter how hard they try, as for Dennis he will forever regret should Nigeria lift the trophy.

  • The club has not seen anything yet. More relegation is coming and Dennis for desregarding his country because of his club, he will suffer many more shame
