Report: Osimhen tests negative for Covid-19, set for a return to action

The last few weeks have been tumultuous for the Super Eagles star, but he is now set for a return to competitive action

Super Eagles Victor Osimhen has tested negative for Covid-19, and as such, he is set to return to Italy soon.

Osimhen has had an uneasy last few weeks- the continuous back and forth between Napoli and the NFF concerning his participation at the African Cup of Nations and also testing positive for Covid-19.

Also, He had to pull out of the AFCON controversially, albeit Super Eagles boss Augustine Eguavoen defended his decision, stating that the former Lille man was suffering from poor health.

Because of his Covid-19 issue, he has had to isolate in Nigeria following Covid-19 protocols. However, the former Under-17 star has cause to smile again, as Napoli announced via their Twitter handle that their 23-year-old talisman man will return to Italy very soon after he tested negative for Covid-19.

Osimhen has not played since he suffered a facial injury in Napoli’s Serie A clash against Inter Milan in November 2020.

But the Super Eagles star could return to action on the 17th of January when Neapolitans travel to Bologna.

  • I don't get it. this must be a betting game first it was stay away from active football for 90 days, second he has shown quick recovery earlier than expected but would be given a face mask, third he would not be allowed to play at afcon Napoli vow to sue NFF if they allow Osimhen to play for Nigeria at afcon on the ground that the boy hasn't fully recovered form injury, his name was included in the super eagles squad to play at afcon, And lastly he was tested positive for Covid 19 but now he has tested negative. Who is fooling who ? I would keep my fingers crossed to see if Osimhen would not play for Napoli before the end of afcon

  • He wouldn't be able to participate in the AFCON Osimhen was named to the Super Eagles team to represent Nigeria at the afcon, but Napoli has threatened to sue the NFF if they allow him to participate on the grounds that he hasn't fully recovered from his injury. Last but not least, after testing positive for Covid 19 he now tested negative.
