“A complicated evening” – Ola Aina reacts to Torino’s loss at Inter Milan

Il Toro made life difficult for the champions on Wednesday evening but ultimately left the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza with no point to show for their endeavour

Nigerian full-back Ola Aina has lamented Torino’s lack of luck after the visitors suffered a narrow 1-0 loss to Inter Milan at the San Siro in Serie A’s game week 19 clash.

Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries netted the only goal of the game in the first half as Inter secured their 14th win of the campaign.

The champions, however, found Torino a tough nut to crack, with Ivan Juric’s men going toe-to-toe with the home side – matching them in ball possession and shots on target.

Aina’s contribution in defence and attack was noteworthy, with the Super Eagles defender making a tackle, winning seven duels, and seeing one shot blocked and another go off target.

In the past weeks, the former Chelsea ace has played his part in helping Torino become the fourth-best defence in the Italian top-flight.

But the 24-year-old was disappointed to see his side lose for the first time in five league games despite putting in their best.

“Serie A is really difficult, the ranking is short and you have to give your all against everyone,” Aina told Torino Channel as per Calcio Mercato.

“Then, of course, Inter are strong.

“It was a complicated evening, but I think we played well mostly in the second half. Usual story: we play well, but then we lose the match.”

With the first half of the season done, Torino sit in a decent 11th place with 25 points despite possessing the least prolific attack in the top 15.

Aina has featured 16 times for the Bulls in the league, making the starting lineup in 13 of those.
