Super Eagles returnee Odion Ighalo wins West Asia award

The ex-Manchester United star’s performance for his Saudi Arabia club this season has been rewarded with an award

Super Eagles returnee Odion Ighalo has been named the West Asia player of the month of October following his impressive displays for his Saudi Arabia club Al-Shabab.

Ighalo has scored nine goals in 11 league games for Al-Shabab this season, with four coming in October. The 32-year-old opened his account last month against Al-Batin FC before netting a brace against Al-Ittihad Jeddah.

He capped off an excellent month with a goal Al-Tai. These performances have not gone unnoticed with fans, who have now voted him October’s player of the month.

Al-Shabab confirmed the win on their Instagram page before Ighalo also reshared on his social media pages. The ex-Watford striker will hope to carry his excellent form into the international break.

Ighalo returns to the Nigerian national team this week, more than two years after he retired from international football.

The 32-year-old attacker is in the Super Eagles squad that take on Liberia and Cape Verde in their final group games in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
