Soccernet.ng brings you some highlights of the most notable exploits of Nigerian exports to Europe on Sunday.
In the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Chima Akas claimed an assist as Belenenses left it late to strike down Santa Clara 2-1 on home soil.
Belenenses had led the tie since the first half through Alisson Safira, only for Allano to equalise for the visitors from the penalty spot in the 90th minute.
But Nigerian defender Akas ensured the hosts secured all the three points at stake when he passed for Pedro Nuno to find the net three minutes into stoppage time.
Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala grabbed two goals and assisted another as Barcelona Ladies crushed visiting Real Sociedad 8-1 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
With scores locked at 1-1, Oshoala netted Barca’s second and third before assisting the fourth to take the game out of the reach of their rivals.
In the Belgian First Division A, Genk hammered Zulte Waregem 6-2 with Paul Onuachu among the goal scorers as the Super Eagles striker ended a mini-goal drought.
Onuachu had fired blanks in each of his last five matches in all competitions, and he was not involved as the Smurfs powered to a 6-0 triumph over lower league side Sint-Eloois-Winkel in the Belgian Cup last time out.
But the 27-year-old forward got his side’s third goal of the clash – his tenth of the campaign – as the cup holders moved to seventh on the league table and within eight points of leaders Union Saint-Gilloise.
Samuel Adegbenro’s season got even better as he smashed home the winner in Norrkoping’s 3-2 victory over Elfsborg in a Swedish Allsvenskan tie at the PlatinumCars Arena on Sunday.
With the game locked at 2-2 after the hosts had twice come from behind, Adegbenro pounced on an assist from compatriot Ishaq Abdulrazak to net the winning goal seven minutes from time.
The strike was the 25-year-old striker’s 16th in 26 league games for Norrkoping.
In the Slovakian top-flight, six Nigerians were in the matchday squad, five saw action, two got on the scoresheet, and Ezekiel Henty was the pick of the bunch as Slovan Bratislava edged Trencin 3-2 at the Mestský futbalový štadión Na Sihoti in Trenčín.
Trencin handed starts to Yem and Azango, Abdul Musa Zubairu made it off the bench in the second half while Ghali was left out altogether as the hosts sought a win over the league leaders.
Azango even scored one of Trencin’s goals, but 28-year-old Henty, who starred alongside compatriot Rabiu Ibrahim for Slovan, struck a brace, including the winner to power the visitors to a win that takes them three points clear of second-place Spartak Trnava.
