Nigerian prospect Akin Amoo making a statement in the Swedish League

Nigerian midfielder Akinwummi Amoo has impressed fans with his performance for Swedish side Hammarby. The Nigerian-born star has been making waves in the Swedish topflight this season with top-class performances.

Amoo, 19, moved to Hammarby from Nigerian Academy, Sidon FC in June 2020. Following a slow start in his first season, the Ibadan-born star has since hit the ground running for Hammarby.

He has scored 12 goals and registered four assists for his side in all competitions this season. Aged only 19, Amoo still has a lot of time to become a better player.

The former Nigeria U-17 star looks to be a promising player for the Super Eagles, with Gernot Rohr’s scouts monitoring the youngster.

Amoo’s goal contributions have come as a shock to many. The 19-year-old, who failed to find the back of the net for his club last season, is now delivering the goods.

His form has also raised calls for a call-up to the Nigerian National team. Although he is still young, the quality of Amoo cannot be overlooked. With a good eye on his development, the Super Eagles have a gem on their hands.
