‘I’d go for Osimhen’- Ex-Roma star says he would choose Napoli striker ahead of Mbappe

The 22-year-old has been compared to the World Cup winner following a brilliant start to the campaign for both club and country

Former Roma Star Walter Sabatini has said that he would pick Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen ahead of Paris Saint Germain and France star Kylian Mbappe.

Osimhen and Mbappe are two of the best youngsters in the world right now, but the latter has been on a world-class level for the past few years.

Still, Sabatini would choose the Nigerian international ahead of the French World Cup winner right now.

Speaking in an interview with Corriere Dello Sport newspaper as per Football Italia, the former Roma and Parma midfielder says Osimhen’s ability to make impossible balls count is what gives him the edge over Mbappe.

“If I were to pick one of them, I’d go for Osimhen. He is unstoppable because he can run onto seemingly impossible balls and make them count,” Sabatini told Corriere Dello Sport via Football Italia.

Mbappe has scored six goals and provided eight assists in 13 games for PSG this season, while Osimhen has nine goals and one assist in ten games for Napoli.

But despite Mbappe’s consistency over the last three years, Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti also shared Sabatini’s view, saying he has always believed that his star striker is the better player.

“I agree with what he said, and I have always thought that,” Spalletti said.

Meanwhile, both players are reportedly on the radar of 13-time European champions Real Madrid.

  • He is a striker with great pace with ability to run through defenders to get goals like kylien mbaape, when I watch him play I would always wish if I could have him in our darling super eagles. Now that God has also blessed us with someone like him so I am happy. all we need do is to always pray for him and the entire team to be injury free. because he has a lot to offer.
