Why Tottenham did not sign new Super Eagles star

The Lilywhites were in the market for a striker in the just-concluded summer transfer window and could have signed a Nigerian star

Top English side Tottenham Hotspur were in pursuit of Nigeria and Lorient striker Terem Moffi during the summer transfer window.

However, the Ligue one side held on tightly to their star man and did not consider letting him leave. According to a tweet by Ouest France as per Last word on Spurs, Les Merlus made sure to keep the former Kortrijk man ‘at all cost’.

With Harry Kane pushing for a move away from North London in the summer, the forward could have been the likely replacement for the English hitman.

Since his arrival at Stade du Moustoir last summer, Moffi has been the best player for Lorient. In his first season, he scored 14 and assisted three.

The 22-year-old has continued with his rich form this season, with a goal and an assist after four games in the Ligue One.

Terem Moffi is currently in the Super Eagles camp ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde.
