Spalleti praises Osimhen, reveals why he scored against Sampdoria

Osimhen has been deadly for Napoli in front of goal recently, and Spalletti was full of praises for the Nigerian star after his latest heroics

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti has praised star striker Victor Osimhen for his impeccable performance in Napoli’s 4-0 win against Sampdoria in the Italian Serie A.

The former Inter Milan gaffer also cited the poor defensive setup from Sampdoria as a major reason why Osimhen found a lot of joy upfront.

Osimhen put up an outstanding performance for the Parthenopeans, as he scored a goal in each half to help Napoli secure a 4-0 win at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

The season was shaping up to be a bad one for the former U-17 star after he got sent off in Napoli’s opening fixture against Venezia.

However, the Nigerian has put all that behind, and he is in the form of his life. His brace against Sampdoria increases his tally to five goals in his last three appearances.

His performances haven’t gone unnoticed, and his boss praised him for his ability to exploit the Sampdoria defence and take advantage of their lapses.

“We are happy with Osimhen because he works so hard in everything he does,” Spalletti told DAZN as per Football Italia.

“Ospina did really well in goal during the first half, as Sampdoria pounced on us from the start, but that left huge gaps behind their defence, and in those situations, Osimhen is devastating.”

Osimhen has been outstanding for Napoli under Spalletti, and he will hope that his rich form continues for a long time.
