Serie A: Brilliant Osimhen helps Napoli seal a comeback win against Juventus

The Nigerian striker was impressive in his return as the Neapolitans maintained their 100% start to the season following a fantastic victory over the former champions

Victor Osimhen returned to Serie A action to help Napoli come from behind to beat Juventus 2-1 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Osimhen had gotten off to a bad start after he was sent off in the opening game against Venezia. The 22-year-old was subsequently banned for two games, but it was later reduced to one following Napoli’s successful appeal.

And having missed the game against Genoa, Osimhen was back in Napoli’s lineup. Although he did not score, the Nigerian was brilliant for the 89 minutes he was on the pitch.

He was relentless in his pressing and also had an incredible work rate throughout the game. The Nigerian international even got close on many occasions but was denied by Giorgio Chiellini’s block and Wojciech Tomasz Szczęsny’s hands.

Overall, he managed four shots, including one on target, while he also had one key pass. It was indeed an excellent display from the Nigerian before he was taken off in the 89th minute for Andrea Petagna.

The match itself started with Napoli going behind as early as the tenth minute after Alvaro Morata capitalised on a defensive error to give Juventus the lead.

However, Matteo Politano levelled the scores for the home side in the 57th minute. The former Inter Milan man fired home from close range after Szczęsny failed to deal with a Lorenzo Insigne shot.

The match appeared to be heading for a draw until Kalidou Koulibaly bundled home a corner from close range to give Luciano Spalletti’s men the three points.
