The action continued in the Portuguese top-flight on Monday night as the Panthers took on Jorge Simão’s men at Estádio do Bessa

Super Eagles star Chidozie Awaziem played a key role as Boavista beat Pacos de Ferreira 3-0 to secure their first win of the season in the Portuguese Primeira Liga.

Although he did not score, Awaziem was solid in a three-man defence to ensure The Panthers keep a clean sheet in his first appearance of the season.

The 24-year-old missed the opening day defeat to Gil Vicente, but he played the full 90 minutes on Monday night.

Awaziem was brilliant at the back, making four clearances and winning four duels. He also made two successful tackles and one interception.

Boavista took the lead in the 19th minute through Yusupha Njie, who slotted home following a ball from Kenji Gorre.

Former Manchester City man Javi Garcia doubled the home side advantage in the 61st minute before Jeriel De Santis finished off a Nathan assist for a comprehensive win for João Pedro Sousa’s men.
