The 23-year-old winger gave fans and his colleagues a scare after he collapsed in Les Girondins Ligue 1 encounter at the Orange Vélodrome
Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has confirmed that his international compatriot Samuel Kalu is okay after collapsing on the pitch last night.
Kalu collapsed in the early stages of Bordeaux’s Ligue 1 clash against Olympique Marseille. The Nigerian international gave everyone a scare when he went down unchallenged, with both sets of players calling on the paramedics to rush onto the pitch.
Fortunately, he regained consciousness after receiving treatment. He was even able to continue the match, although he went off for Remi Oudin in the 14th minute.
Bordeaux were able to claw their way back from two goals down for a 2-2 draw, but it was all about Kalu’s health status after the match.
However, Ogu has now confirmed that the former Gent winger is doing okay. Ogu, who is currently without a club, shared a screenshot of his video call with Kalu on his Twitter page.
It was believed that Kalu collapsed due to heat exhaustion, but he is set to undergo further tests today to determine what went wrong.
