There are three Nigerians in the two squads, but one of them will be unavailable for their season opener against Napoli at the Diego Amanda Maradona Stadium.
Venezia coach Paolo Zanetti has stated that Nigerian forward David Okereke will not be available for squad selection in the game against Napoli due to issues with his visa.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference as reported by Venezia today, Zanetti said: ” Črnigoj is struggling with a slight stretch, and there will not even be Busio and Okereke, the latter awaiting a visa.”
The Orange-green secured the services of Okereke from Club Brugge on a season-long loan last week, and the Nigerian forward would have hoped to make his debut for his new team as they begin their Serie A campaign this weekend.
The 23-year old could be vital to Zanetti’s plan this season as he has the experience of playing Italian football.
Okereke played for Spezia three seasons ago, scoring ten goals in thirty appearances. Nonetheless, the former Under-23 player could have his chance two days before his birthday as they visit Udinese on Friday the 27th.
Okereke is yet to play for the Super Eagles, but he has one cap for the Under-23 team.
