The 25-year-old delivered another impressive display, but it was not enough to earn the Toffees the win at Elland Road
Alex Iwobi was again at his best as Everton played out a 2-2 draw against Leeds United in their Premier League encounter at Elland Road.
Iwobi came on in the second half last weekend to help Everton to a 3-1 win over Southampton, setting up Abdoulaye Doucoure’s goal.
The performance convinced Everton’s manager Rafael Benitez to hand him a starting spot in the clash against Marcelo Bielsa’s men.
And he once again produced another excellent display even though he did not score or provide an assist. The Super Eagles star, playing on the right flank, was key at both ends of the pitch.
He completed three out of three dribbles and made two key passes, including one big chance. The 25-year-old also managed one shot off target and had an 88% pass accuracy.
Iwobi was also solid defensively, making two key interceptions and the same number of tackles, while he also won five duels.
The match itself started with Leeds on the front foot, but it was the away side that went ahead in the 30th minute through Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty after Liam Cooper held the Englishman in the box.
Leeds drew level before half-time through Mateusz Klich, who slotted home after being played through by Patrick Bamford.
The Toffees retook the lead courtesy of a low left-footed strike from Demarai Gray in the second half. Everton had the chance to extend their lead when Iwobi set up Calvert-Lewin with a brilliant through ball, but the England international could only hit straight at Illan Meslier.
He would later rue the miss as Raphina sealed a point for Leeds with a brilliant left-footed strike in the 72nd minute.
