‘He’s so different’-Frank Onyeka picks Chelsea’s star as his favourite player in the Premier League

The 23-year-old is a new arrival in the English top-flight but has revealed that one of Chelsea’s key players is his role model

Super Eagles star Frank Onyeka has named Chelsea’s Ngolo Kante as his favourite player in the English Premier League, saying he’s a big fan of his style.

Since arriving in England in 2015, Kante has been arguably the best defensive midfielder in the game. The 30-year-old is known for his ability to read the game perfectly, break the opposition’s attacking play and his movement with the ball.

These qualities have earned him praises from several players, including Onyeka. As a defensive midfielder himself, Onyeka revealed Kante is his favourite player to watch.

The Super Eagles star revealed he tries to model his game on Kante’s playing style, even though the Frenchman lacks a little bit of technique.

“He’s so different,” Onyeka told Skysports. Technically he’s not so good, but he wins a lot of ball going into duels, and he’s so small.

“That’s the kind of my own playing style”, the 23-year-old added.

Onyeka has settled quickly into the Premier League environment after joining new boys Brentford from Midtjylland on a five-year deal.

The midfielder revealed he’s happy to be playing in the English top-flight, saying it’s a dream for every player.

“This is a dream come true. This is what every player wants, to play in the Premier League.”

‘For me, it’s one of the greatest achievements as a football player,” he concluded.
