Ndidi impresses but Penalty woe for Iheanacho as Leicester City lose first pre-season game

The Foxes played their first pre-season game of this summer on Saturday afternoon, but it ended in a penalty shoot-out defeat for them

Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho were both in action as Leicester City lost on penalties to Burton Albion in the pre-season friendly between the two sides at the Pirelli Stadium.

The two Nigerian stars were part of the players that started the second half, but it was a mixed display from the two players.

Ndidi was brilliant as usual, getting into tackles while also breaking the opposition’s play. The former Genk player was also tidy in possession but offered little going forward.

Meanwhile, Iheanacho created the Foxes best chance of the game, setting up Jamie Vardy, but the former England international could not direct his header on target.

However, he was also guilty of giving the ball away cheaply on many occasions, while he was also one of the three Leicester players that missed their spot-kicks.

Iheanacho will hope to redeem himself when Leicester take on Wycombe in their next pre-season game on Wednesday.
