“He has not come here to pick lily of the valley” – Manager assesses Nigerian youngster after scoring for his new French club

After a disappointing time in Germany with Cologne, one of the country’s brightest prospects is adapting well to his new surroundings in France

Amiens FC manager Philippe Hinschberger has reserved positive words for new signing Tolu Arokodare after the youngster scored in his side’s friendly against Belgian side Oostende on Saturday.

Arokodare moved to France a couple of weeks ago to join the Ligue 2 side on a two-year loan deal after an unproductive spell in Cologne last season.

The 20-year-old is determined to help the LFP Slayers regain their Ligue 1 status before the expiration of his contract, and he started on a bright note on Saturday.

Arokodare glanced home a fine header in the first half to help Amiens claim a fine 2-1 friendly win over Oostende.

And speaking after the encounter, head coach Hinschberger admitted that the youngster still has improvements to make in certain areas of his game.

“He hasn’t done everything well with us since he came in training, but I found his first half against Charleroi more than interesting. He still has to learn to play with others,” Hinschberger said as per MaLigue2

However, the French tactician confesses that Arokodare’s unique qualities, coupled with his passion in front of goal, make him an interesting striker.

“But he is very drawn to the goal. He has a real mule strike. We have seen him again in training recently.

“He has a natural desire to score goals, to move forward; he has not come here to pick lily of the valley. He knows where he wants to go!

“He has character; he yells at guys when they don’t pass him. It’s a very interesting profile,” he concluded.
