The Nigerian international expected to join the new Premier League team this summer, but there is still a little detail that needs to be sorted
Frank Onyeka’s impending move from Midtjylland to Brentford is close to being sealed, with only the work permit needed to be sorted.
Soccernet had earlier reported per Danish newspaper ekstrabladet that Onyeka had been left out of Midtjylland’s pre-season squad as a move to the new Premier League team is on the horizon.
The 23-year-old is now expected to travel to England as soon as he receives a work permit. A deal between the two clubs should not be a problem as they are both owned by Matthew Benham.
It’s been a remarkable rise for Onyeka, who moved to Europe in 2016. The Nigerian international joined Midtjylland from FC Ebedei in 2016, playing for the club’s U-19 first.
After a year with the U-19, he joined the first team, where he earned his status as one of the best midfielders in the Danish top-flight.
He made 41 appearances for the club last season, including six in the Champions League group stage. Onyeka also made his international bow last October in a friendly game against Algeria.
