The Super Eagles striker hast struggled so far in his first year with Gli Azzuri, but there was some respite for him on Sunday night.
Victor Osimhen scored his first goal in over four months as Napoli returned to winning ways in the Italian Serie A with a 3-1 victory over Bologna at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
It’s been a difficult first season for Osimhen at Napoli, with the striker yet to justify the club and African record fee of 81.3m euros paid to sign him from Lille last summer.
Before Sunday night, Osimhen had only scored two times in the Italian top-flight, with his last goal coming against Bologna on the 11th of November.
However, he made it three goals from 10 league games against the same opponent, using his speed to beat his marker before slotting past Lukasz Skorupski to double Napoli’s advantage.
Lorenzo Insigne had given Napoli the lead in the eighth minute before Osimhen came on in the second half to double Gennaro Gattuso’s men advantage.
Roberto Soriano pulled one back for Bologna in the 73rd minute, but Insigne’s second of the night 14 minutes from time killed all hopes of a potential comeback and secured the maximum points for Gli Azzurri.
