Nigerians Abroad: Iheanacho, Simon, Simy Score On A Good Night For Super Eagles Stars

A couple of Nigerian stars were in top form as the midweek round of games took place in some of Europe’s major leagues

Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi combined to help Leicester City salvage a point in their clash against Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Foxes played out a 1-1 draw against the Clarets in their Premier League encounter on Wednesday night.

Matej Vydra gave Burnley the lead inside the opening five minutes, but Iheanacho fired in a perfect volley following a long ball from Ndidi to secure a point for Brendan Rodgers men.

Iheanacho was not the only Super Eagles star on target as Moses Simon was also on the score sheet-although he ended up on the losing side.

Simon headed in the opener in Nantes 2-1 loss to Reims at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Ghislain Konan and Yunis Abdelhamid goals sealed a comeback win for the visitors.

In Italy, Simy Nwankwo scored his eighth goal of the season, but Crotone suffered an embarrassing 5-1 loss at Atalanta.

Simy restored parity for Crotone with a classy finish after Robin Gosens header had given Atalanta the lead. But despite his equaliser, strikes from Jose Luis Palomino, Luis Muriel, Josip Ilicic, and Aleksey Miranchuk gave Atalanta an emphatic victory.

Meanwhile, Joe Aribo was in action as Rangers left it late before seeing off the challenge of Livingston in their Scottish Premiership encounter.

Aribo was on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes as Alfredo Morelos strike three minutes from time edges Rangers towards a first league title since the 2010-2011 season.

In the Skybet Championship, William Troost Ekong featured for the entire duration as Andre Gray brace helped Watford see off the challenge of Wycombe at Vicarage Road.

Finally, in Turkey, Henry Onyekuru and Oghenekaro Etebo both featured for Galatasaray, but the Lions suffered a shocking 2-1 loss at the home 19th placed side Ankaragucu in the Turkish Super Lig.
