The Super Eagles captain has been out of action for over three months, but the German tactician has backed him to get his form back
Nigeria’s national team coach, Gernot Rohr, has backed his captain, Ahmed Musa, to get back to playing again anytime soon.
Musa has been without a club since he was released by Saudi Arabia’s Professional League side, Al-Nassr in October.
Although the former Leicester City forward has been linked with a host of clubs, Musa is yet to find a new team.
He was close to signing for West Brom in the January transfer window, but the deal fell through at the last minute due to the Baggies tight finances.
But despite the disappointment of missing out on a deal with the Premier League side, Rohr believes it’s only a matter of time before Musa finds a new club.
“It’s unfortunate it didn’t work out at West Brom but I believe Musa will find another club soon,” Rohr told BBC Sport Africa.
“He has the ambition to get back as quickly as he can to play football again at club level.
“Musa made a great impact for us in big matches like against Iceland in Russia, that is a reminder of the ability he has.
Nigeria play their final two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Lesotho next month, but Rohr stopped short at revealing whether Musa would be part of the squad.
However, the former Bordeaux manager insists it’s important Musa finds a new club as his impact on the Super Eagles team cannot be quantified.
“I have no doubt he can discover his best form, the happiness and joy to play again. This will be good for us because we can get to see that impact in our squad,” Rohr added
