How Odion Ighalo Reacted To Opening Goal Account In Saudi Arabia

The former Nigerian international was a consistent goal scorer for clubs across Europe and Asia, and he was elated to grab his maiden strike in the Middle East

Odion Ighalo has expressed his delight and his thirst for more after the former Manchester United striker opened his goalscoring account for his new club Al-Shabab.

The Nigerian forward departed Manchester United at the end of January, following the expiration of his one-year loan deal.

And Ighalo subsequently terminated his contract with Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua to team up with Al Shabab a few days ago.

The 31-year-old made his competitive debut for Carlos Hernadenz’s side a week ago when he featured for the last seven minutes of their 4-1 win over Al-Raed.

And in just his second appearance for the Saudi Arabia Pro League leaders, Ighalo has made his impact felt, signalling his desire to make a success of his time in the Holy Land.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations top scorer, who was once again introduced from the bench, received an intelligent pass from Ever Banega and slotted the ball past Al Nassr goalkeeper Bradley Jones to make it 4-0 for the home side in the second minute of stoppage time.

Ighalo then took to his Twitter account to celebrate his first goal in the colours of Al Shabab.

“First of many, ” he wrote.

The latest win over Ahmed Musa’s former employer, Al-Nassr, has seen Al-Shabab open a four-point gap at the top of the Saudi Pro League standings.
