It was a day of mixed fortunes for Super Eagles stars in Europe, with the duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Anthony Nwakaeme leading their clubs to victory. At the same time, Simy Nwankwo suffered another heavy defeat in the Serie A.

Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi made his 150th appearance in Leicester City’s 2-1 victory at Newcastle in the English Premier League.

Of Ndidi’s 150 appearances for the King Power Stadium outfit, 128 were in the Premier League, eight in the FA Cup and League Cup, four in the Champions League, and two in the Europa League group stage.

Ndidi could not add to his tally of eight goals and seven assists for Leicester, but second-half goals from James Maddison and Yoeri Tielemans secured the win over the Magpies.

Second-half substitute Andy Carroll got the hosts’ consolation goal in the 82nd minute of the clash at St. James Park. Ndidi’s international teammate Kelechi Iheanacho did not make it off the bench for the high flying Foxes.

Brendan Rodgers’ men have now risen to third on the league table with 29 points amassed from 17 games.

It was another good day at the office for Anthony Nwakaeme as the forgotten Super Eagles ace got the opener for Trabzonspor in the 2-1 victory at Fatih Karagümrük.

The Nigerian forward pounced on a Serkan Asan pass to finish off a minute after the break, for his fifth strike of the campaign.

Jure Balkovec equalised for the home side midway through the half, but Caleb Ekuban slammed home the winner nine minutes from time.

However, it was a day to forget for Simy Nwankwo and teammates as Crotone slumped to a 6-2 defeat at Inter Milan on Sunday.

The Nigerian striker came off the bench on the hour mark with the scoreline already reading 3-2 in favour of Antonio Conte’s men.

But Nwankwo could not salvage the game for the relegation-threatened side as further goals from Lautaro Martinez, Romelu Lukaku, and Achraf Hakimi condemned Crotone to another heavy league defeat.

The win sees Inter retain their second spot, while Crotone will spend at least another week at the foot of the league table.
