The Super Falcons star is mourning the loss of her stepmother and Barcelona paid their respect in a touching way ahead of their win over Rayo Femenino
Barcelona Femeni held a minute silence in honour of Asisat Oshoala’s stepmom ahead of their 7-0 thrashing of Rayo Vallecano.
Oshoala announced on Tuesday, the death of her stepmom, and La Blaugranes paid their respect ahead of their Spanish Primera match on Wednesday.
The Super Falcons was on target twice in the emphatic win, and she dedicated the two goals to her departed stepmom.
Oshoala’s brace on Wednesday night takes her tally to 11 goals in 12 league games this season. Barcelona took the lead inside the opening four minutes courtesy of a strike from Jennifer Hermoso.
Alexia Putellas then extended their advantage seven minutes later before Oshoala made it three in the 15th minute.
Putellas scored her second and Barcelona’s fourth five minutes before the break. Not to be outshined by Putellas, Oshoala also scored her second in the 59th minute to Lluis Cortes ladies a five-goal advantage.
Further strikes from Mapi Leon and Aitana Bonmati added gloss to the scoreline for the Spanish champions.
The win sees Barcelona maintain their 100% record in the Spanish top-flight with 12 wins from 12 matches. La Blaugranes are well on course to retain their title as they are currently five points clear at the top with two games in hand.
