The Super Falcons star went for team success over individual honours when asked which she would prefer to win between the African Footballer of the year and Europe’s biggest club competition

Asisat Oshoala has revealed she would love to win the UEFA Champions League over the African player of the year.

Oshoala said this in a Q&A with Barcelona Femeni’s social media accounts. The 25-year-old’s choice is not a surprise given she has won the CAF women’s player of the year award a record-equalling four times.

However, Barcelona Femeni are yet to lay their hands on Europe’s biggest club prize- although they came close last season, losing to Wolfsburg 1-0 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

Oshoala also revealed that Lionel Messi is her favourite Barcelona legend while she hopes La Blaugranes win the Champions League this season.

The former Liverpool star is yet to hit the heights of last season, where she scored 19 times in 20 league matches as Barca were crowned champions.

Nonetheless, she has scored three times in seven league matches this campaign.
