There were several footballing actions across Europe’s domestic leagues on Saturday and once again, many Nigerian stars featured for their clubs
Alex Iwobi was on the pitch for 85 minutes as Everton stunned Chelsea in their Premier League clash at Goodison Park on Saturday night.
Iwobi, who has played in an unorthodox wing-back role in the Toffees last three games, played in a more attacking position against Chelsea.
The Super Eagles star played as a right-winger in a 4-3-3 formation and was influential, attempting five successful dribbles. A Gylfi Sigurdsson penalty in the 21st minute was enough for Carlo Ancelotti’s men to seal the three points.
Meanwhile, in Germany, Taiwo Awoniyi made his ninth league appearance of the season, but he could not add to his two goals.
Still, he was impressive as Union Berlin held champions, Bayern Munich to a shocking 1-1 draw at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.
Awoniyi was a handful for the Bayern defenders, winning three of his aerial duels- although he did miss two big chances.
Grischa Prömel put the home side ahead inside four minutes, but Robert Lewandowski strike in the 67th minute ensured both teams shared the points.
