Bad Day At The Office For Semi Ajayi As Eagles Ran Riot

The Super Eagles defender made his 10th league appearance of the season, but the Baggies had a day to forget at the Hawthorns

Semi Ajayi featured for the entire duration, but he was unable to prevent West Brom from suffering a heavy home defeat to Eberechi Eze’s Crystal Palace.

The Eagles ran riot at the Hawthorns, scoring five times with Eze delivering an impressive performance. The former QPR man created an assist and was a handful for West Brom defenders.

Palace started on the front foot, and they opened the scoring in the eighth minute through an own goal from Darnell Furlong.

Conor Gallagher strike in the 30th minute drew the Baggies level, but that was as good as it gets for Slaven Bilic’s men with Palace exerting their dominance.

Shortly after Gallagher’s goal, West Brom were reduced to ten men as Matheus Pereira was sent off for violent conduct.

Although the home side were able to hold on till the break, Roy Hodgson’s men restored their advantage through the returning Wilfried Zaha in the 56th minute.

Christian Benteke’s header three minutes later extended Palace lead before Zaha scored his second and Palace fourth in the 69th minute following brilliant work from Eze.

Not to be outshined by the Ivorian, Benteke also scored his second eight minutes before the full-time via left-footed strike.

It was indeed an emphatic win for the Eagles, but a day to forget for Bilic and his wards.
