Moses Simon: Super Eagles Star Risks Missing Sierra Leone Clash

The exciting Nigerian winger was helped out of the field during the Yellow Canaries’ match against the French champions with only a quarter of the game gone

Victor Moses suffered an injury during the first-half of Nantes 3-0 defeat to PSG, casting doubt on his availability for Nigeria’s back-to-back face-off against Sierra Leone next week.

Listed among the starting eleven for the seventh time this league season, Moses had the game’s first big chance arriving at the near post to meet Kolo Muani’s low cross but the Super Eagles star failed to connect with the ball with the goal at his mercy.

Minutes later, the former Levante winger came off the worse of a rash tackle and had to make way for Kader Bamba in the 25th-minute.

PSG proceeded to dominate the encounter, and second-half goals from Herrera, Mbappe, and Sarabia handed Thomas Tuchel’s men a convincing victory at the home ground of one of their bitterest foes.

Simon, though, could begin a race against the clock to be back fit for Nigeria’s double-headed meetings against Sierra Leone on November 13th and 17th.

A 30-cap Nigeria international, Simon is one of head coach Gernot Rohr’s most trusted stalwarts.

The 25-year-old attacker featured in both of Nigeria’s October friendly games against Algeria and Tunisia.

Simon joins goalkeeper Sebastian Osigwe, who tested positive for the coronavirus disease, as a doubt for the Afcon qualifying games.
