Victor Osimhen Disappointed In Serie A Authorities Over Unfair Decision

The Nigerian international believes the Serie A disciplinary commission decision to award Juventus a 3-0 win after Napoli failed to travel to Turin is unfair

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has expressed his unhappiness over the decision to deduct one point from Napoli and also award Juventus a 3-0 win.

Napoli were scheduled to play the champions in the third league match of the new season, but they missed the clash in Turin after two of their players tested positive for Covid-19.

Although the Gli Azzuri insisted that they were prevented from travelling by the Naples local authorities, Serie A disciplinary committee revealed no force majeure contained Gennaro Gattuso’s men from travelling.

Serie A clubs are also applying UEFA’s rule on Covid-19, which says a match can go ahead as long as a team has 13 players healthy, including the goalkeeper.

But Napoli went against the rule, and as a result, Juventus were awarded a 3-0 win, while Gli Azzurri also suffered a one-point deduction.

However, Osimhen insists the decision is unfair as they could not travel due to the coronavirus situation in the team.

“Juventus? I don’t know, but there’s the COVID situation. That’s why we couldn’t travel. We were charged for the match, then we were blocked by the COVID rules. It’s a bit unfair, the decision they made later,” Osimhen told football Italia per SSCNapolinews.

Napoli could still see the decision overturned after they appealed to the Sports Court of Appeal.
