Victor Osimhen starred for Napoli as Gennaro Gattuso’s men came from behind to beat Benevento 2-1 at the Municipal Stadium Ciro Vigorit.
Napoli went into the game as favourites, but it was Benevento who took the lead through a Roberto Insigne strike in the 30th minute.
Insigne’s goal ensured the home side went into half-time with the lead. But following the restart, Napoli drew level through a fine strike from Lorenzo Insigne, who is the brother of Roberto.
The goal sparked Napoli to life, and they got the winner in the 67th minute courtesy of a close-range finish from Andrea Petagna.
Although Osimhen did not score, he was a threat throughout the game, while he also linked up perfectly with his teammates.
While Osimhen was on the winning side, it was a bad day at the office for his international teammate, Alex Iwobi, who was part of the Everton squad that lost 2-0 to Southampton at the St. Marys.
Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti handed Iwobi his first start of the season, but he could not prevent the Toffees from defeat.
First-half goals from James Ward Prowse (27) and Che Adams (35) were enough to seal the three points for the Saints. It was also the only half Iwobi played as he was taken off at half-time for Bernard.
But it only got worse for Everton after the break as Lucas Digne was sent off for a challenge on Kyle Walker-Peters.
The loss means Everton have now lost their 100% record, although they still stay joint top with Merseyside rivals, Liverpool.
