Ex-Arsenal Hero Andrey Arshavin Hails Former Super Eagles Star

The ex-Gunner has been left in awe of the attacking qualities of former Chelsea ace Victor Moses after another excellent weekend

Former Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin is impressed with how much Nigerian star Victor Moses has improved the attack line of Spartak Moscow.

Moses made his first start for the Moscovites on Saturday and got his first goal for the club in their 3-1 defeat of Krasnodar at the Stadion FK Krasnodar.

It came exactly a week after Moses inspired Domenico Tedesco’s men to a 3-2 triumph at Khimki, a game Spartak were losing until the on-loan Chelsea man was introduced in the second half.

Such a fantastic start to life in Russia has made Arshavin hail the qualities of Moses, a winger he faced in the Premier League when the Nigerian was at Wigan Athletic.

“I think it was clear that this is a strong footballer for our championship. Moses has strengthened the necessary position for Spartak,” Arshavin said on the Match TV channel (via Sport Express).

“I remember how he played for Wigan against us. He played more with the ball. Now – more at a distance. Spent a lot of time at Inter and Chelsea.”

Moses moved to Spartak on a temporary deal in mid-October, his sixth loan switch since he became a Chelsea player.

Since completing an €11.5 million move to Chelsea in 2012, Moses has spent time on loan at Liverpool, Stoke City, West Ham, Fenerbahce, and Inter Milan.

The retired Super Eagles winger will look to continue his fine form when Spartak host Rostov this weekend.
