The Super Eagles vice-captain is currently on the books of Udinese, but he could be on the move to England’s second division
Italian Serie A side, Udinese, are considering selling William Troost Ekong this summer with the Skybet English championship his likely destination.
According to a local newspaper, Messaggero Veneto, in Udine, the Nigerian alongside Francisco Sierralta could be sold to the Hornets with Roberto Pereyra and Ignacio Pussetto moving the other way.
It’s a surprising move given he made 31 appearances in all competitions for Le Zebrette last season, while Watford suffered relegation from the English top-flight.
However, the Pozzo connection between the two clubs may have played a major role-although it is not known if Ekong had a say in it.
The Nigerian international joined Udinese from Bursaspor in 2018 and has turned out to be one of the club’s most important players.
Should a deal be agreed between the two parties, Ekong would be making an England return having featured for Fulham and Tottenham youth sides previously.
