Reports: Super Eagles Star Lands In London As Serie A Adventure Ends

He made 30 league appearances for I Bianconeri last season, but William Troost Ekong won’t get to feature in the Serie A this season

Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost Ekong is set to complete a shocking move from Italian Serie A side, Udinese, to Skybet Championship club, Watford.

Soccernet had earlier reported that the 27-year-old is a target for the Hornets and the deal is edging towards completion.

According to BBC’s Oluwashina Okeleji, Ekong has landed in London and should sign a deal with Watford on Tuesday.

It’s a surprising move given Ekong is leaving the Italian top-flight for England’s second division. However, the deal could be linked with a relationship between Watford and Udinese, who are both owned by the Pozzo family.

Ekong’s deal with Watford means the Nigerian international returns to England 12 years after leaving. The Dutch-born Super Eagles star started his football journey with Bishop Stortford FC before joining Fulham youth side.

He also had stints with Tottenham’s U-21 side where he played with England international, Harry Kane.
