The Nigerian international had a debut to remember for his new side, but the City’s number one religious leader has ‘jokingly told him to do more
Crescenzio Sepe, the Archbishop of the city of Naples, appears to be impressed with Osimhen’s Napoli’s debut but wants him to set a new record.
Osimhen could not have hoped for a better debut after he scored a hat-trick in Napoli’s pre-season friendly win over L’Aquila.
Osimhen scored his first three goals in a Gli Azzurri shirt in the space of seven minutes. While it was an impressive performance, the Archbishop has challenged him to score five goals in five minutes next time. Sepe made the request while he was addressing Napoli’s players before the start of Thursday’s training.
Meanwhile, Matteo Politano revealed the team gave Osimhen a warm welcome but urged fans not to put too much pressure on the youngster.
“We have welcomed Osimhen, and we are really happy to have him here with us”, Politano told Skysports per SSC Napoli news.
“We will all help him so that he can grow with us, but we must avoid putting too much pressure on the boy”, he added. Politano’s comments come after manager, Genaro Gattuso also echoed the same words.
