The 21-year-old became Africa’s most expensive player after joining the Italian side, and he can’t wait to justify the hefty fee
Victor Osimhen has set personal and team targets following his record-breaking move from Lille to Napoli last weekend.
The Nigerian international became Africa’s most expensive footballer after Napoli paid a club-record fee of 80m euros including add-ons for his services. A hefty price like that puts Osimen under immense pressure to perform, but it appears he’s ready to embrace it.
According to the player’s agent, William D’Avila per SSC Napoli News, Osimhen wants to win the Serie A top scorer, the Scudetto and also help the team achieve their targets in European competitions.
“Victor Osimhen wants to be the top scorer (Capocannoniere) and become the strongest striker in Italy,” the French agent said.
“He obviously wants to win the championship, as well as going as far as possible in the Champions League and the Europa League.”
Gli Azzurri’s last top-flight title came in the 1989-1990 season when a certain Diego Maradona led them to victory.
Also, Gonzalo Higuain-another Argentine was the last Napoli player to finish as the top scorer, when he scored a record-breaking 36 goals in the 2015-2016 season. However, Ciro Immobile would later equal it at the just-concluded season.
