The Super Eagles star has failed to live up to expectation since he joined the Merseyside team from Arsenal for a reported 35m pounds
Alex Iwobi was again a passenger in Everton’s 1-0 loss to Tottenham on Monday night, and that has not gone down well with a section of Toffees fans.
Michael Keane’s own goal in the 24th minute was enough to seal three points for Jose Mourinho’s men. Iwobi was handed a start in the game but was taken off at half-time.
The Nigeria international joined Everton from Arsenal last summer, and it was believed the move would give him a chance to express himself more.
However, almost a year after signing, Iwobi’s performances with the Blues have failed to convince many Evertonians that he’s the real deal.
The 24-year-old has made 26 appearances in all competitions for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, registering just two goals and a single assist.

Although he has played in all Everton’s game since the league resumed, his performances have been average, and it appears Evertonians have had enough following Monday’s loss.
Many fans of the club took to social media to criticise Iwobi’s performance while some even suggested he should be sold.
Nonetheless, it’s unlikely that Everton will sell Iwobi this summer, but the Super Eagles star needs to start delivering good performances consistently, beginning with the home clash against Southampton.
