Revealed: Why Osimhen Signed For Napoli

The Super Eagles star was not too keen on a move to the Italian club initially, but after months of uncertainty, he’s set to sign a new deal

Former representative of Victor Osimhen, Jean-Gérard Benoit Czajka, has revealed he took the words of Kalidou Koulibaly and De Laurentis for the Lille hotshot to sign for Napoli.

Czajka brokered the deal that took Osimhen to Napoli- although he would be replaced later by French agent William D’Avila. However, the sale was not without barriers as Osimhen was not too interested in joining the Gli Azzurri at first.

According to reports, the former Royal Charleroi star was worried about the high cases of racism incidents in Serie A matches.

But Czajka has revealed that the Nigerian international changed his stance after meeting with Napoli’s president, De Laurentis, and Senegalese star, Koulibaly, who plays for the club.

“I told Victor that before having such strong ideas, that he had to travel to see for himself, meet people, talk with players who are confronted with racism, Czajka told France Football– organisers of the Ballon d’Or.

“Something that we finally did on July 1, 2 and 3 where we met the coach, the sports director, as well as the president De Laurentiis who is a man with values and experience, and who seems to have convinced the player. Victor also spoke a lot with Kalidou Koulibaly, and this was decisive in his choice for Napoli.

The Spanish agent, who also represents Steven Odey added that the financial package was also an important factor in changing Osimhen’s mind.

“Yes, it must also be said, when a big club like Naples offers you the position of the holder, with a contract of around 30M € net of taxes (over six years), it helps to make a positive decision at 21,” he added.
