FA Cup Heartbreak For Ighalo As Chelsea Down United At Wembley

It’s another FA Cup semi-final heartbreak for Odion Ighalo as his second-half introduction could not save the Red Devils from falling 3-1 at Wembley to Chelsea.

A late second-half penalty from Bruno Fernandes was nothing but a consolation as Man United fell 3-1 to Chelsea, with Olivier Giroud and Mason Mount among the goals for the Blues.

After being on the losing end with Watford in 2016, Nigerian forward Ighalo tasted another FA Cup semi-final defeat as Manchester United’s 2019/20 Emirates FA Cup run sadly came to an end on Sunday.

Goals for Frank Lampard’s side either side of half-time from Giroud and Mount did the damage before a Harry Maguire own goal sealed it for the Blues.

The Red Devils grabbed a consolation from the penalty spot through Bruno Fernandes on 85 minutes, but it was too little, too late on the day.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men received a boost in their UEFA Champions League qualifications hopes when Tottenham thrash Leicester City early in the day.

But their only hope for a silverware this campaign now rests in the Europa League where they have one leg in the quarterfinal stage.

Chelsea, on the other hand, progress to the FA Cup final where they face Arsenal, who conquered cup holders Man City on Saturday, in an all-London match-up.
