The young Lille forward’s move to Naples is now a matter of when and not if, as well-wishes continue to flow in his direction from political quarters
Governorship Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Edo state gubernatorial elections, Pastor Ize Iyamu has expressed his delight at the impending transfer of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen to Napoli, raising the youngster as a worthy model for youths in the country.
The deal that is taking Osimhen to Napoli is all but done with French side Lille set to be €60 million richer from the exchange.
According to transfer news guru, Fabrizio Romano, the former Royal Charleroi man is expected to sign a contract that will keep him with Gennaro Gattuso’s side until June 2025.
Nigeria’s number one citizen, President Muhammadu Buhari, it has been revealed, is glad that Osimhen has chosen Napoli as his next destination, and another top politician in the country is also offering the 21-year-old moral support.
Lagos-born Osimhen has his roots from Edo state, and the man who could be the next governor of the ‘Heartbeat of the Nation’ is full of pride and prayers for a worthy son of the soil.
Writing on social media site, Twitter, Iyamu said: “I’m delighted by Victor’s record move to Napoli. Victor Osimhen is a worthy model to our youths on the power of dreams, hard work, and focus. I pray that God grants him a successful & injury-free career.”
Osimhen has netted 38 goals across the last two seasons for Charleroi and Lille, and he could become the most expensive Nigerian footballer ever when his deal to Napoli is completed.
