Super Eagles Have The Talents To Conquer Africa – Mabo

Head coach Gernot Rohr recently committed to a new deal with the West Africans that will see him guide them to the next edition of the African championships and the FIFA World Cup

Former Super Falcons head coach Ismaila Mabo is confident that the Super Eagles team is presently blessed with top talents, and winning the 2021 African Cup of Nations tournament should not be an impossible mission for coach Gernot Rohr.

The Nigeria national football team currently boasts of one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers in Victor Osimhen.

The youngster netted 18 goals for Lille this season and has equally been excellent for the Super Eagles, netting four goals in eight matches for Rohr’s side.

There’s also Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, whose performances for the Foxes have seen him rated among the best midfielders, not only in the Premier League but also in the world.

More stars abound in Europe, including Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, Nantes Moses Simon, Bordeaux’s Samuel Kalu, as well as Getafe’s Oghenekaro Etebo, among several others.

Mabo, who led Nigeria’s national female football team to glory at the 2000 African Women Championships, knows what it takes to achieve continental success.

And the veteran coach maintains that Rohr has been blessed with the right tools to lead the Super Eagles to AFCON glory, failing which he should be relieved of his duty.

“Rohr has done well so far, but I think after winning a bronze at the AFCON, he should justify his huge wages by going further to win the cup,” Complete Sports quotes coach Mabo.

“We have the talents to conquer Africa. We are due for another AFCON win with the talents at his disposal,” Mabo said.

“The NFF were right to order Rohr to win the AFCON and qualify for World Cup, and I think the federation should fire him if he fails to win the 4th AFCON for Nigeria. To whom much is given, much is expected, Rohr should win a trophy for the country or get his contract terminated.

“Rohr, after four years as Super Eagles coach, should be winning titles now as well as improving Nigerian football. He needs to work hard and get his priorities right, or he quits.”
