Ndidi Speaks On ‘Say No To Rape’ Movement Following The Death Of Vera Uwaila Omozuwa

The last few days have been met with outrage from protesters following the death of Miss Uwaila Vera Omozuwa, a 100-level student of University Of Benin

Vera, 22, was raped and then brutally assaulted at a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Benin City, where she was studying.

The microbiology student was found lying in her pool of blood by RCCG’s security and was subsequently rushed to the hospital.  However, the attack was too severe, and she was declared dead on Saturday, May 30.

Her death sparked outrage across the country with protesters saying they are tired of how Nigerian women are being raped and sexually assaulted daily.

Several people including politicians took to the social media site, Twitter, to trend the hashtag ‘Say no to rape’ and ‘Justice for Uwa’

Super Eagles star, Wilfred Ndidi, also lent his voice to the movement with the Leicester City man posting on his Instagram with the caption: Say no to rape.

The 23-year-old who just had a baby girl and celebrated his marriage anniversary has also been using his platform to speak out against racial injustices.
